Mary Jo Plutt who founded Tasteful Communications Group. She has more than 20 years of experience in food communications: public relations, brand marketing and publishing. For 4 years, Mary Jo directed the Food Communications department for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). She created national programs communicating culinary information about beef to the food media and industry-opinion leaders. Programs included newspaper press releases, media tours, beef cookery and product information seminars, and on-site visits with food editors at national magazines. Prior to joining NCBA, Mary Jo was a project editor with Meredith Integrated Marketing in Des Moines, Iowa where she planned and coordinated books, magazines and newsletters for national clients such as Kraft®, Nabisco®, ConAgra® and Hershey’s®. She also held the positions as senior editor at Better Homes and Gardens® Books and as cooking editor at Rodale®. Her books include Stop Dieting & Lose Weight and Healthy Homestyle Cooking—each with first-year sales of 200,000+, and the 1990 James Beard Food and Beverage Book Award nominee, Old-Fashioned Home Baking. Dedicated to the food industry, Mary Jo is one of the founding members of the Colorado chapter of the Les Dames d’ Escoffier International. In addition, she is affiliated with the International Association of Culinary Professionals and the American Institute of Wine and Food.
